The Op4 server is down

While we are still taking donations to expedite the process getting Opforia back online it will not be available until further notice.

Op4 will be headed to the Datacenter to check out the location and server racks in the new it's Californian home, during the inspection we'll have taken the bullion we have from the coffers and have purchased what we can with it.

If you are a liason and would like to contact Op4 you can do so through the normal channels.

Op4's regime will remain the same during the servers downtime.

Recruiting standards have changed during this period, inquire if this applies to you.

Op4 has been operating its ArmA 2 server at a cost of $130 per month for the past 18 months. We have had our ups and downs on population but one thing has always remained a constant: the lack of donations. This has unfairly resulted in over $1500 in out-of-pocket costs to the people footing the bill each month. This cannot continue any longer. As a result, we will therefore be making some significant changes that will hopefully pay off in the long term. The main change will be a brand new server, built from scratch, that will be hosted in California. The new server will have a much lower monthly cost in addition to better performance compared to our current server. Unfortunately, the start-up cost of this is going to be around $800. This means that we will need at least $500 in donations in order to purchase the required hardware. If sufficient amount cannot be raised then there will be no server until that amount is met.

Take some time to think about why you play on the Op4 server. I'm admittedly biased, but we've been to a number of servers over the years and they all have their share of problems. A few of our members even managed to get the entirety of Op4 banned from a certain Life server for ambushing and completely destroying a couple of admins while obeying every rule they had (and there were a lot of them). Have you ever seen our admins behave that way? I may be a jerk at times but I'm no douche. I've also spent hundreds of hours over the years writing scripts, editing, and modifying missions to try and make the public server an enjoyable and balanced experience for everyone. At one point, I believe we were even in the top 5 most popular US servers. I'm not going to try bribing you with promises of special treatment or fabulous prizes. But, if you enjoy playing on the Op4 server, please think about why you do and donate something so we can keep it going for you and everyone else. $5, $10, or more, Op4 or not, it doesn't matter. Many people spend more than that on food in a single day unless they're on a ramen diet. We're all in this together and every little bit helps.
